A Little Slice of CHA!

Here's the scoop: I seriously have not forgotten about you all. I wrote this update a week ago, but my time was needed setting up for Operation Replenish, unpacking from the shows and catching up at the store. THE GOOD NEWS IS: We've already started receiving some of this new product! I'll post photos soon, but hurry in, the bling is flying! Also, my dear hubby posted an album of photos for me, so make sure you check that out. And, check out Candice Mclean's site http://cemdesign.typepad.com/cemdesign/2008/02/cha-update.html She was my official photographer on Tuesday and documented some of the crazy order writing and checking in with the scrapbook superstars (love that Ali E. and Teresa C.) BTW: If you know of someone who lost their home in the wildfires and has fema paperwork, please let them know about Operation Replenish in Poway next weekend, Friday-Sunday 11-5. And now for the long-awaited report...

A Little SLICE of CHA!

By far the most talked about item on the show floor was this totally cool tool from none other than Making Memories called The Slice. This nifty must-have machine fits in the palm of your hand and will effortlessly and precisely cut shapes and alphas out of paper. We thought we had seen it all and were a little leary at first, but when we saw this bad-boy demonstrated we were SOLD! Here’s Margie Romney-Aslett giving us her little demo of the SLICE…so much fun. If interested in one of these machines, call the store to get on the interest list. They will go fast.

EA Goes International!

Before we even left for the preshow activities, we welcomed guests at the store from the Netherlands. Here is one store owner who made an extra trip to San Diego just to see EA! How cool! Also, we had a ball getting together with store owner friends from South Africa and Australia. Here’s a sneak peek. Hpim4794_4

Nearly 40 Orders Written Before the Show Began!

Heather and I spent three days prior to the show floor opening up in Anaheim getting a jumpstart on our ordering spree. By far our favorites were BoBunny (beachy keen, teen chic, extreme teen and all the fun acrylic stamps), K&Company, Cosmo Cricket, Imaginisce, and Creative Imaginations. And Prima! OMG, the new Prima is to die for. We had fun perusing the catalog and seeing sneak peeks with Corrina Nielsen, one of the designers for Prima. Her new lines are fantabulous and all the new flowers and paintables and stamps…we had a hard time resisting!Hpim4872

-Teresa Collins new lines

-Jenny Bowlin

-Pink Paislee

-Maya road

-Rouge de Garance

The Future of Scrapbooking Is....

All_about_ali_webres Monorailweb  ENTER....THE AGE OF DIGITAL/HYBRID SCRAPBOOKING...............

Benihanapma_digitalgingerweb

digital layouts designed by Bevin Dunn, telling a bit of the story of PMA and our quest for digital/hybrid scrapbooking. Took amazing classes from Renee Pearson of CK's Digital Scrapbooking Magazine, Candice Stringham of CK Media and the incomparable Ali Edwards (love that girl!) Left: having dinner with the Creative Imaginations team. above: Bevin's first monorail ride, what an experience! top left: hanging with Ali, our hero.

Our Quest for Digital/Hybrid Scrapbooking

So, many of you know I spent several days at the Photo Marketing Association last week learning about digital and hybrid scrapbooking. I can honestly say, without a shadow of a doubt, I was beyond terrified of the prospect of digital scrapbooking (like most scrapbook store owners!) I'm not super tech savvy...I still very much enjoy taking my 35mm photos and getting them developed the "traditional" way. But the fact remains, I have thousands (as in 1,000's) of digital photos that I've taken and stored on my hard drive and I have done nothing with them. So I was one of a few brave store owners that began their quest to find out more  about the WORLD OF DIGI.

What I found astounded me. Savvy. Fast. Easy. Beautiful. Engaging. Art. Life Captured on Film. Okay, seriously, this is DO-able. Will it replace Traditional Scrapbooking. NO WAY. Will it enhance Traditional Scrapbooking? Absolutely. Strictly digi is flat, one dimensional. But the key here is HYBRID. That's a combination of traditional and digital, in case you hadn't already figured that one out! LOL (WAY MORE on hybrid when I return from CHA next week.)

That's where Ever After steps in. We've teamed up with two huge talents to bring you digital/hybrid scrapbooking. It's a scary and oh-so-exciting venture. Yes, it's risky, but that's what being an entreprenuer is about, right? So far, the buzz is EXCITEMENT. We have excited many of you who have already called and signed up.

What are you waiting for? Jump on board and experiment and learn with us. Check out our calendar for these amazing classes, already starting to fill. Trust me, when you see what you can do digitally, you'll want to come along for the ride. The future of scrapbooking awaits you!

OFF TO CHA...

I've only been home four days, but I'm just hours before leaving for CHA pre-show events. We've assembled a huge team of adventure-seekers to hunt down the coolest gadgets and paper designs offered. Candice Mclean will be our official "sneak peek" photographer. Watch the blog for details.

Off to Seize the Day, Camille (a proud traditional scrapbooker and soon-to-be hybrid scrapbooker too!)

Scrapfest-tivities! Ever After is in da House!

Scrapfest was a Blast! Team Ever After had a ball at the first annual Scrapfest, organized by our friend Tracy Johnson. 200 ladies scrapbooking for nearly 28 hours over two days! Give a shout out to Monica Martin, EA instructor and cheerleader, for helping design the Ever After table centerpiece. The theme "It's a Sweet TrEAt at EA won first place! Then, in a landslide vote, she went on to win Queen of the Crop in the page layout contest. Camille wore her blue and gold in honor of the bolts and sneaked away to watch the game. The Bolts gave it all they had against the undefeated Patriots and Camille rejoined the scrapfestivites with a Blue-and-Gold Light Special! Here's a sneak peek from our good friends Leah Fung and Johanna Peterson. We couldn't resist posting this oh-so-fun videowebisode created at scrapfest. Enjoy!
